Personality:
Please do note that game!MC/Hibiki/Hiro is quite different from anime!Hibiki
As Daichi, his best friend, puts it, they're 'just highschool students'. Except the fact that he's not into girls like most highschool boys (in which Daichi calls him 'weird') and that he is pretty dense/ oblivious to any romantic feelings towards him, Hibiki is just a perfectly normal and typical highschool boy, really- studying for exams, then moving on to college and whatnot. Well, 'was', actually. This was all before the Judgement Days. There are 7 days in total and are to test the humans, if they were to fail, the world will get eaten up and disappear. For each judgement day, one (different) Septentrion will appear to attack the world, each appearing in different locations and what's more, becoming stronger every time. Along the series, Hibiki rethinks about the statement: 'there's nothing we can do about it', and had to determine his ‘right’ choices.

For each judgement day, one (different) Septentrion will appear to attack the world, each appearing in different locations and what's more, becoming stronger every time. Along the series, Hibiki rethinks about the statement: 'there's nothing we can do about it', and had to determine his ‘right’ choices.
First off, Hibiki is portrayed as being the calm one in most situations. Even if he is to be caught by surprise by anything, he quickly regains composure. If it were a dangerous situation, he becomes calm quickly, and then reacts to the situation fast. He will readily get a rough grasp of the situation and then decide immediately on what to do. He is known to make quick decisions. An example is when stray demons suddenly break into a building, at first he was taken by surprise but then hearing a child’s cry for help caused him to immediately take action.
Secondly, it can be seen that he is independent and brave. This can already be shown in the very beginning of the series where after he first summoned Byakko, he admitted being afraid of it. However, he doesn't run away from it and instead accepts it, saying that he knows that he can use his power to help others. This can be shown many times in the series, where he repeatedly states that he will use his powers to protect others: "I have the power to fight", "I can't count on anyone else. Think. What's the best I can do?", "Looking away now.. will lead to regret!", "True enough, I didn't want this power. But if I can help save others, then running away... is something I can't do!", "I still don't understand. But if my power can be of use, if I can fight in order to help others.. I'll do what I can.", " 'fall back'... But there's no where else to run is there?" & "I can't allow anymore sacrifices!". When Alcor asks Hibiki why he still tries even though the others have given up, he replies "Because I've acquired this power. I want to run away. But..." It is extremely prominent in the whole series that Hibiki is brave. He fights even though he's afraid, he fights not knowing what will happen next in the future. The reason as to why he treasures his friends so much is implied in episode 11, where Daichi protects him from bullies. I am inferring that because of that, Hibiki thus feels that he should protect him (and his friends). This leads to him not abandoning his friends (3rd point).
In episode 11 as well, the reason as to why Hibiki is independent can be seen. It is shown that since young, his parents have not given him enough care and attention, often leaving him alone and telling him not to give trouble to them.
Later in the series, because of his strong bonds between the friends he have made throughout the whole series, he learns that he can rely on friends when needed.
Thirdly, Hibiki is the type of person who will never abandon comrades. He believes that those with power should help the weaker ones; he doesn't like the thought of sacrificial pawns so he tries to save as many people as he can. His beliefs and values clash with Yamato's, which results in him defying Yamato. This can be shown in the series numerous times. When Yamato and Hibiki discussed about Keita's death, Yamato says that "It's an acceptable sacrifice." but Hibiki disagrees, saying "Sacrifice? I can't think of it like that."
“Who’s talented and who’s weak? Who gets to decide that?”
Because of this he may also sacrifice himself to protect his comrades. This can be shown in episode 2, Hibiki agrees to join JPs, with the condition that they will allow Nitta and Daichi to Ariake. Also even when he himself was afraid, Hibiki tells Nitta and Daichi: "No matter what happens.. I'll protect you both", which shows that he looks out for others.
Thus, we can conclude that this trait is caused by his strong sense of justice. This is the reason why he questions things that he feels that are wrong/ out of place, for example, "Is this really the right choice?"
However, when put negatively, Hibiki is an idealist as wanting to save everyone is merely an unrealistic thought. Just as Yamato says, Hibiki is 'naive'. Hibiki stated that "The 'dead face' clips show the future. If we can see it, we can avoid it." But this was too simplistic a thought.
"To think you all have this facility but aren't helping anyone..." & "I'm fine. I have Byakko."
"But I can fight with Byakko's power", showing that he thinks that just because he has power, everything will be fine.
Furthermore, Hibiki is quite emotional/ revolves around emotions. Even though Hibiki takes situations calmly, he becomes rash when his emotions get the better of him, once even nearly killing himself (ep 5). As I like to put it, 'the more he tries, the worse it gets'. In other words, the more he tries to save everyone, trying so hard to ensure that only he would be the one to be burdened, when he fails to, he will only burden himself and the people around him. An example is when he jumps into a battle even though he was in rear guard, in which he not only failed to kill the Septentrion, Merak, but also caused the JPs summoners stationed there to die and Hinako to be heavily injured (because they protected him and Byakko). Furthermore, when he left his station in the rear guard, Nitta had to fill in for him. As Alcor puts it, "It's because of your (his) choice" and "those with power tend to influence the ones around them". I'm sure this quote rings a bell: 'with power comes great responsibility', which strongly states what Hibiki is lacking in. Him being emotional can also be shown in episode 10, when Alcor explains that he has nowhere to go, Hibiki takes pity on him and allows him to stay.
Later in this series, his impulsiveness gradually improves as he goes through more incidents; he realizes that his choices impacted the people around. This can be shown later in the series, he states that "if I don't understand the meaning behind this power, I might as well be powerless.", and Alcor also enlightens him about choices and possibilities. “We have to choose to proper path We can’t be too hasty”, showing that he has learnt that he should be much less reckless and control his emotions more, thus makes an effort to control himself later in the series.
Also, when he fails to protect people, he feels guilty and will blame himself for it, putting the burden all on himself. A perfect example is Keita's death, where Keita pushes Hibiki away just in time to save him from an attack. He blames himself for Keita's death as they saw Keita's death clip but yet couldn't prevent it, "We were warned. I should've been able to prevent the "death face" footage. I let my guard down." "Keita died protecting me.".
Also, on the second day battle against the second Septentrion, Yamato set up sacrificial summoners before using Hibiki for battle. This resulted in all these summoners dying, which instils guilt and a sense of uselessness into Hibiki: "Why didn't you use me from the start? If you had, they.. wouldn't have had to die."
It’s not only Keita’s death that caused him to feel guilty. Until his canon point, there a few others who died, Hibiki saw their death clips, but again couldn’t save them.
Lastly, when Hibiki chooses to express his disagreement, he is quite stubborn. By that, I don’t mean he’s forever rebelling and narrow minded, I mean that for example, if he were given some choices, he will think about it and choose what he feels is ‘right’. And then whenever he makes up his mind, he will not change it. For example, when JPs explains that they do not know much about the enemy's capabilities and that they can't send him in without a plan, Hibiki states that "that's exactly why I can't stay still". When he is told that he cannot be given permission to act on his own, he says that "I don't need permission". Another example is along the series, where Yamato gave Hibiki many offers to join him in creating a world of meritocracy, but he rejected him for all times.
He is also shown to not give up when in difficult situations, he always has hope, he tries very hard and believes that he will be able to achieve what he needs to (mainly save people) as long as he does. A perfect example would be in episode 10, where Nitta Io had to be sacrificed to a demon, Lugh, as a vessel, so as to defeat the day’s Septentrion, Mizar. This resulted in Nitta’s body and mind to be completely take over by Lugh just after he is used to defeat Mizar. Lugh, being angered because of the disrespect shown to demons, still possessing Nitta, went to kill Yamato. Yamato then ordered Hibiki to destroy Lugh!Nitta but Hibiki, however, refused to and believed that he could still save her. In the end, he was able to convince Io to live, in which her will to live breaks Lugh’s control over her bother.
In a nutshell, the 6 days fighting against the Septentrion has changed Hibiki to become a more responsible person.
☆INTERSTELLAR
Choice Instrument: Lead vocals, piano, guitar
Rockstar Persona: On stage, Hibiki's brainwash causes him to put on a facade of a friendly, cheerful person which is slightly similar to how he really is in canon but more exaggerated. He interacts with people when needed. The facade is all for the sake of his passion in music, but it usually makes him very tired afterwards.
On the contrary, Hibiki's backstage self/ "real self" is similar to his canon childhood self; quiet and doesn't really want to interact much with people. He doesn't avoid them unless he really can't take it, he'll just talk as little as he needs to.
Hibiki had loved music from young, and was extremely studious in music. However, this caused him to be shunned by his class since he studied a tad too much, and his classmates also called him mean names like "music nerd" (similar to his canon childhood). Furthermore, Hibiki also got bullied by his classmates (again like his canon childhood), just that due to the brainwash Daichi wasn't there to protect him. Growing up without Daichi's or anybody's support in the constant environment of bullying and isolation plus his cold and anti-loving parents, caused him to shut out the world and just dedicate himself to pursuing music. Because of this, he also doesn't rely on people, keeps many problems to himself and he doesn't understand the concept of 'friends'; his independency is even more than before.
Hibiki's stand on putting oneself before comrades as well as his bravery has completely disappeared due to Daichi not existing; he doesn't really have anything to 'fight' for except his music. However, he is still emotional but he keeps it within himself (he just doesn't think that it's a good idea to show it and it is a big twist of his calmness), so it is possible to get his emotions to show (where his impulsiveness will also show). Furthermore, his stubbornness is still there and is present even more than before.
((please do tell me if this isn't allowed ;o;))
Ideal CR: Oh man uhm... someone who can deal with/ fix his quietness and facade thing? like family/friend kind of relations!
Writing Sample: Does this work? or this :'D
